黑白铁，望文生义，是黑铁和白铁的总称。而黑白铁加工则是民间小作坊对加工一般铁件和镀锌铁板东西的叫法。他们将一般的铁件称之为"黑铁"，将镀锌铁板(俗称的雪花铁)一般称之为"白铁"。
